A Day at the Park – Raymond Russell Park

Our family loves to find new places to hang out and have fun.  I heard about Raymond Russell Park from one of my girlfriends.  It is located near one of my favorite shopping centers- The Rim!   Excuse me…I need to take a little moment.  Ahhh!  That’s better.  I just really love that place!

Raymond Russell has a great play area for the kids.

They also have wonderful areas for family gatherings, loaded with a kitchen area with a large refrigerator to keep your food cool, and tons of counter space.

The boys really loved the “flag wall”.  On the side of one of the buildings, their is a huge flag painted.  Awesome.

We only got to check out a little bit of the park, but we will definitely be back there again.

Just Being Silly…again

What can I say, we are just a silly bunch!  We always have our camera ready to capture our moments.

The boys think it is the greatest thing that we let them act goofy in the stores.

104_0295 104_0308

I have no idea where they get this from.

We have such a fun time on our outings.  It is also a really inexpensive way to entertain the kiddos.  All you need is a store and a camera.  We love the craft stores, Kohl's, JC Penny, Burlington CF and Stein Mart.  The best stores are the ones that carry both clothes and house hold items.  I mean props.  Just give it a try, you will be amazed at how much fun it is.  :)

A look back at Fall Soccer

With the World Cup in full swing, I can’t help but think back on the boys fall soccer season.

They love soccer!  This was Cody’s 4th season and Ian’s 2nd.  Cody always looks like he is having the time of his life on the field, while Ian looks very serious.  They love the game!

Cody is always ready for the camera, so here is the little ham doing what he does best.

The end of season parties are always the awesome!

Check out their cool trophies!

Cody’s 7th Birthday!

IMG_3674

Ok- so it was about 2 months ago…but better late than never, right?

I think we have done just about every party place you can think of.  Pizza places, burger places, sports places you name it we have probably had a party there.  It was almost Cody’s birthday and I had no idea what to do.

Meanwhile, Cody had been talking non-stop about the movie, How to Train Your Dragon 3-D, for weeks!  He wanted to see it and that was all there was to it.  Opening week, we would go see it.

That weekend happened be around his birthday.  Since I had been in a dilemma of where to have his party, a movie party was the answer to my prayers.

I looked on line and booked the party.  It was awesome!

We got a special tour of the reel room where all the magic happens.  They showed how the movies are set up, rewound and stored.  IMG_3689IMG_3691

(yes, that is a movie tee he is wearing. you knew that would happen)

Cody actually got to start the movie we were going to see.

IMG_3696

(and we got to cut in line to get our snacks.  Once we ordered, they brought them to our seats.  You know how those lines for popcorn and candies are, so you know how wonderful this kind of service is! You know what I’m talking about!  Yes, you do.)

It was a really cute movie.  I want a dragon for a pet now.  We have already added the movie to our que on Netflix.  It was a family hit!

Oh, our tour guide, Marcus, he was awesome!  Overall the party at the movies was well worth every penny!  A movie party is one we will have to do again.  Hmmm, I wonder what will be out around my birthday.

Our dog is crazy!!

Have I mentioned that we have a crazy dog?  Brandie, a husky mix, is completely crazy!

We have caught her on top of things and have no idea how she gets there.  Really…in the fort, on top of the table, and now this.

IMG_3825

That’s right- she is in the trampoline.  IN!  How did she get in?  I don’t know.  How does she get on top of stuff?  No idea!

We got her out, and Cody got in.

                                    IMG_3832

About a minute later, look who is back inside the trampoline.  Yup!  It’s Brandie!

                          IMG_3836

I missed it again.  I didn’t see her get in and when I asked Cody, well…he just said:

                               “She just did Mom!”

Thanks sweetie, that explains everything.  I think she waits until I’m not looking to do these things.

I know it isn’t safe for her to be in there.  Especially with a bouncing Cody.  But I let her enjoy it for a little while.  Who could resist that face?  Both of their faces!

I wonder what she does while we are away…on second thought, maybe I shouldn’t think about it too much.

A day at the park

Live Oak Park, TX.  What a great place to share Good Friday with friends.  A wonderful picnic lunch, egg hunt and play time with our friends.

I took this time to take some pics of the boys.

And believe it or not…they actually asked when we were going to take our pictures in the bluebonnets!  Can you believe it?!  Crazy- I know.  I think we are going to go some time next week.

I suspect they like doing it because it is the only time they are allowed to play on the side of the highway and not get in trouble.

Lightning Thief

                    percy-jackson-lightning-thief-poster

Oh My Goshes!  I am so glad that my boys love to go to the movies.  I love movies, especially at the theater…on opening night!  I have a very sweet friend that luckily enjoys the same thing, and has boys the same age as Ian & Cody!  Our boys enjoy the same things so it makes for a perfect match!

My sweet friend introduced me to a new book series:  Percy Jackson & The Olympians by Rick Riordan.  Who by the way happens to live here in San Antonio!  He also wrote 39 Clues that Ian loves.  You don’t know how excited that makes Ian.  Just thinking that we may, at some point, just so happen to run into him.  Where I’m not sure…but it could happen.

I’m sure you have all heard of the movie Lightning Thief.  If you haven’t read the books- you should.  Lately the books that Ian has been reading, are all turning into movies.  So we are really excited to see how the movies will compare to the books.  We have some interesting discussions comparing and critiquing them.

We got the boys movie shirts- a must have on movie day!

Ok- so you can’t see Cody's…but it is there.

And as always- you have to get your picture taken by the giant oversized movie poster!  Always!

We can’t wait until the next movie adventure.  We are going to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid coming out March 19th!  I guess I should start looking for movie shirts!

TSO

TSO-Trans-Siberian Orchestra!

I had heard many of my friends talking about this concert.  I thought it would be something the boys would like to see.  Boy- did they enjoy it!

Sorry about the late post, things have been a little busy around the San Maritn house. This was a Christmas gift for the family.  Each year we get something that is for everyone.   This year it was TSO.

The rock n roll laser light show spectacular!

It was awesome!  But I will warn you- it is really, really long!  I’m not sure if we will see it again, but I am glad we had a chance to experience it.  It was spectacular!

Happy Valentines Day!

Heart   Flowers   Chocolates!

Mmmm- did I hear Chocolate?!  Yes!!  And lots of it too!

My sweetie pie surprised me this year with lots of chocolates, beautiful roses & a super sweet and romantic love note!  I won’t share the love note with you- but believe me…it was beautiful!

                            IMG_3397

The boys also got me Valentines.  They each gave me a Nintendo DS game and cooking magazines.  I know, I’m just a big kid.  You wouldn’t believe how handy it is to have this DS!  It is perfect for those times you have to wait for something- you know what I mean.  When you are waiting at the doctors office, waiting for a prescription to be filled, soccer practice or school to let out.  It really helps pass the time at those moments.

It was a perfect Valentine’s Day!  I love my guys!

Christmas Hunting Trip

One of our new family traditions is the boys Christmas hunting trip.

                122309 001

It is a great chance for them to bond, and for me to get a nice break after the hectic holidays.

Every now and the I will go with them, but usually I have a ton of projects going on and enjoy the peace and quiet.  Not having to clean up after them is of course a plus. LOL

They have so much fun camping in the Hill Country.

What could be better than boys and nature?   I do worry about them while they are out there.  They always come home refreshed and full of life…and a little stinky too.  *giggle*

Silly Boys!

Our family loves to take pictures.  And we really love taking pictures of our silly selves in silly places.  It is a proud tradition I have passed along to my boys.  Silly boys!

Here are a couple of pics from our outings.  The craft stores are the very best!  So many things to see there, so many options for silly pictures.

Here are some from our trip to Party City shopping for Super Bowl supplies.

What funny guys I have.  I think everyone should be silly every so often.  Life would be a little boring without a little fun.
