Memorial Weekend!

Whew! What a day!

We decided to take grandma to the Hill Country. It has been a while since we had been there, and with a 3 day weekend-it was perfect!

The trip alone is beautiful, especially once you get into the mountians.

I packed snacks and the boys Nintendo DS's and games. Even though it is only a 2 hours drive, we travel in style and comfort! We always travel with our pillows, you never know when you'll want to take a nap. Cody and I crashed on the way home.

The cabin is still a work in progress, so the occasional critter gets in. This was a little baby racoon. The boys wanted to keep it as a pet. They even offered to pay for the vet visit. Needless to say, we did not take it home!

The view is always awesome- no matter what season it is. We always take time for a photo session!

Ok, for this next group of pictures...you will have to understand something. I have boys. Their father is a hunter & member of the NRA. So if you don't like guns- this section is not for you...just skip down to the foliage pictures. My boys love to be able to shoot their guns- they are actually pretty good shots as well. They can both shoot a can off the fence from about 15 feet away. Pretty good for a 9 and 5 year old. They set 'em up and knock 'em down all day long!

The regional foliage is a collage of wildflowers, cactus & thistles.

My honey- Man does he love being out here!

The river view

The boys love climbing on the rocks! They explore and collect the quartz crystals in the layers of calechi!

Here is some of the wildflowers down at the river...

The boys love playing in the river! They forgot their swimsuits- but they didn't care!

Yes I did! I let the boys ride for 2 minutes with their heads out the top of the sunroof! And they loved it. We were going less than 5 miles per hour...but you would have thought we were flying!

This I just had to get a picture of. If you look closely, you will see that their is a newly opened Wal-Mart. In front of it, yes, you see it? A closed down Wal-Mart. I ask you, does this make any kind of sense to you? I wish I could have gotten a better picture, I will be looking for it next trip!
