Back to School Weekend

Whoo Hoo!  What a weekend!

This was the last weekend of summer vacation.  We decided to let the boys party ‘till they were pooped!  And boy did we!

First we went to a friends house for a fish fry. 

On the drive over- the sky was beautiful, I took a few pictures.

                        

Mmmmm- the food was delicious, and the company was great.

                           

The kids played “midnight” soccer…

They also played video games and frisbee (until it went over the fence).

Such a good time.  They were excited that we let them stay up so late and play outside after dark.  We all left with a smile on our faces and full bellies.

 

The next day we had a bbq at our house.  Mmmmm- steak, potatoes, chips and dip and deviled eggs.  More food than I can remember.  Yum- O

 

When we get together with my sister’s family- you know it is going to be a good time!

Played with the guinea pigs, ate, a little more water slide…so much fun!

Ian got his hair wet- and wanted to spike it up…Zoey helped- what good friends!

                             

And guess what!?  Next weekend we do it all over again. But next Saturday will be ribs!  My MIL’s birthday party is already planned out!  Can’t wait to see all the family together.  Check back for another fun filled family outing next week.

Did I mention:  I love hanging out with my sister!

Go Cowboys!

Football season is upon us! 

We love being in SA!  And so do the Dallas Cowboys!

They have practice camp here in the Alamodome.  So of course we had to go. 

Ok- so before we even got inside- there was a lot to see!  Just check out this Gigantic HEB shopping cart!  You know I wanted to climb up in the front.  How awesome would that have been!  Talk about Facebook profile pic!

Sweeeeet!  Can you imagine how many groceries would fit in there!

The boys were all dressed up in their Cowboys gear.

I must mention, I am not the biggest fan of football.  But you know Johnny and the boys are.  So, off to Cowboy’s practice we went.

 

We met up with one of Johns high school friends- also named Johnny.  It was great to catch up with him.

Cody had a little attitude at first…he spilled his drink.

He got a little happier once he had a little cotton candy in his belly.

See- there he was…#9! 

I thought it may be a little boring, but you know, it wasn’t really that bad.  Being a girl and all I found other things to entertain me.  I really thought they would have those football pants they wear in the games…sadly…no.

Tex came out and threw some shirts, signed autographs', and chatted with the kids. (not my kids unfortunately- but they loved seeing him out there)

Next time we will get there a little earlier.

They had a little fun after practice showing off ball catching skills.  I think he caught about 7 in all. 

Then of course the players talked a little with the fans, and played with their kids.  I thought it was nice that some of the families were there to support their husbands & fathers. 

I thought this was such a sweet picture.  Daddy has such a cool job!

Now pre-season has begun.  The boys (mine) are excited to watch the games.  I think I will let them have “boy-time” while I get a little uninterrupted crafting done during the games.  Woo Hoo!

Boys Night Out

When we girls had our slumber party…the boys camped out at the lake. 

                                                                                                                                                                

My boys (especially the big one) love to fish!

  John goes fishing as much as he possibly can! 

Usually with his friend JP.

Now- don’t get me wrong.  It isn’t ONLY about the fishing.  Boys will be boys.  Mine try to turn every event into something that will require a gun.  This time was no different.

                                           

                        

Uncle Jim was there as well.  He taught the boys how to throw out the net and catch the bait.

Ahhhh!  The perfect throw!

And the bait.  The boys were glad I was not there for this part.

I usually go around wiping everyone down with sanitary wipes. 

Boys- gotta love ‘em!

I am so glad we have such good friends,and that our kiddos all get along so well!

                                                             

Now- sometimes you just have to get out in the water.

 

How far you go out is up to you.

Don’t worry…JP does this all the time. 

Fishing is a great bonding time for the boys.

OK.  If you get easily grossed out.  Skip down a little- and remember…Boys will definitely be boys.

Little minnows are not the only bait used to fish.  The ever popular, most squiggly, very squirmy worm is also used.  Who knows how long these boys played with them.  I am trying not to think about it myself.  But I’m sure they had a good time!

                                                     

                            

As it was getting dark

It was time to set up the tent.

Play a little Xbox!  I know what you are thinking!  Camping was never this good when we were little!  Ahhh, modern progress!

Even though it was dark, they weren’t scared.  They were prepared with lanterns.

                  

The boys ended up coming home at 4 am.  The Texas heat is just too unbearable- even in the wee hours of the morning, next to the water.

They all had such a great time.  They keep asking me when my next slumber party will be.  I’m hoping pretty soon!
